STRANGLEHOLD

STRANGLEHOLD by Katherine Jeffries

Gemma Pearl knows when people lie – she only has to hear them speak.

When she finds herself parked in front of the sheriff’s department,
covered in wounds and blood and holding a splattered crowbar,
she doesn’t remember killing her husband but she knows she did.
Turning herself in is the only way to save others from what she can do.

Because of Gemma’s ability, the new head of her father’s now-
corrupted vigilante organization, Syra Villano, has enslaved and
used Gemma to find and kill her own personal enemies. This gets
Syra into the good graces of politicians who are dismantling the
US criminal justice system by allowing violent offenders freedom
to cause chaos – facilitating their power grabs.

However, Grant Steele, her father’s partner, has been steadfast
in his drive to kill those responsible for his death and has kept
an eye on Gemma since his murder. When Grant realizes Gemma
is involved with the organization, he takes Gemma into hiding.
He hopes to get answers so he can decide who lives and dies when
he takes the organization down – and whether Gemma should be
numbered among the dead.

In guarding Gemma, Grant and his new partner are in a fight for
their lives. Not only does Syra want her back, but word has spread
about what Gemma can do, attracting savage factions vying for
ownership of her. Grant soon learns that none of his strongholds
are safe and knows that if he were to survive this, he wouldn’t
want to without Gemma.
